Evanscorp Help Develop Next Generation of Entrepreneurs

26 November 2008

The future looks bright with the next generation of Australian entrepreneurs.

Evanscorp has been working with Young Achievement Australia (YAA) since 2007 to help the regions' young entrepreneurs gain business skills through the YAA Business Skills Program TM.

The Business Skills program runs for 6 months each year and involves coming up with a product idea, capitalising the company, and liquidating by the end of the program with some return to shareholders.

Trish Grice, YAA's ACT & Southern NSW Manager, explains, "Our Business Skills Program TM sees the students run their own real company for a period of six months and they learn so much from this experience. Without the support of local companies the Business Skills Program TM could not run. Young Achievement Australia applauds the foresight of companies like Evanscorp for continuing to invest in the future of Wollongong students."

Evanscorp has been supporting YAA's Business Skills Program through a range of areas including providing staff members to mentor student companies, providing administrative facilities for YAA staff, and sponsorship the Illawarra Region Marketing Award in 2008.

Phil Evans, Managing Director of Evanscorp, said, "The Business Skills program provides a 'real world' view of what it's like to run a company and work in a business environment. We have watched the maturing of the participants over the course of each program we have been involved in and have no doubt that we are seeing the next generation of business leaders emerge. The future looks bright."

These programs also provide an opportunity for Evanscorp staff to develop their own leadership and mentoring skills, having a little fun along the way.

About YAA: Young Achievement Australia, a not for profit charitable organization, run a number of community based programs for primary students, secondary, tertiary and post graduate students, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander groups and communities. These programs provide all Australians, particularly young Australians, the opportunity to access vital business education programs.
