16 January 2008

Evanscorp dines energetic entrepreneurs!

Can new business ideas be developed and launched in 48 hours? Evanscorp believes that they can, and that's why they are sponsoring dinner for the second ever Sydney Start-up Camp to be held at Australian Technology Park this weekend.

Start-up Camp is a weekend get together of people from different disciplines with an interest in start-ups. These entrepreneurs set themselves the challenge of developing a business concept going from conception to production in the one weekend. The goal is to have a market ready product, but to also experience an environment of shared learning.

"It's really cool to see the energy and resourcefulness of all the teams. This is a great example of what's possible when you take a bunch of talented people and give them a real challenge." said Start-up Camp Chief Instigator Bart Jellema.

Evanscorp, self confessed innovators who have their own products, such as Remunerate, PassagePlanner and Validate are passionate about sharing experiences and knowledge to support Australian start up businesses. It is for this reason, that Evanscorp was eager to support the event through sponsorship.

Phil Evans, Managing Director of Evanscorp, said "Silicon Beach Australia is really starting to build some momentum. Initiatives such as Start-up Camp encourage community, promote Australian business development, and bring together the innovative talent we have in this country. Start-up Camp II was oversubscribed and I can't wait to see what the 8 teams come up with."

Upcoming weekend around 45 participants will again do the impossible and create a full start-up in under 48 hours. About 24 hours into the event the start-ups will launch and press are invited to come along, have a drink and watch these brand new businesses demo for the first time and meet the people behind them.
